254 Pakistanis died in August in terror attacks
Pakistan experienced its deadliest month of August in six years, with 254 fatalities from militant violence, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies.
The attacks killed 92 civilians and 54 security personnel.
Militants launched 83 assaults nationwide, resulting in 175 deaths and 123 injuries.
The southwestern part of the province of Balochistan was hit hardest, with 125 killed, while the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw a drop in violence but an increase in militant casualties.
The surge in attacks follows a national counter-terrorism campaign launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at combating extremism.
Despite this, violence persists, with 757 killed in the past eight months.
Accusations of Afghan-based militants behind these attacks continue to strain relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
