Israeli lobby’s $100 million war chest shakes up 2024 elections
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is attempting to influence the 2024 presidential elections by spending more than $100 million to sway Democratic primaries.
Their super PAC, the United Democracy Project (UDP), has poured more than $55 million into the race, while AIPAC’s political action committee added over $44 million.
This massive funding effort has been pivotal in unseating progressive critics of Israel’s war on Gaza, including Reps. Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush.
Notably, UDP’s record-setting expenditure against Bowman’s challenger highlighted AIPAC’s substantial financial and political power.
Critics, including the Sunrise Movement, view this spending as a threat to democratic integrity, noting the influx of Republican dollars into Democratic primaries as a disturbing trend.
