Israel kills another Hezbollah fighter
BEIRUT (AA) – Another Hezbollah resistance fighter has been killed by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, the group said on Friday.
Hezbollah identified the slain resistance fighter as Ibrahim Shawqi Salama, 40, from the town of Blida in southern Lebanon.
This new fatality brings the death toll of the Lebanese group Hezbollah in these confrontations to 412 since October 8.
Separately, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that an Israeli raid targeted the town of Aitaroun in southern Lebanon, killing one person and injuring another.
Fears have grown of a full-fledged war between Israel and Hezbollah amid an exchange of cross-border attacks especially after the assassinations of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran on July 31 and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut the previous day.
The escalation comes against the backdrop of a deadly Israeli onslaught on Gaza, which has killed over 40,000 people since last October, following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
