Kamala Harris chooses Tim Walz as running mate in 2024 presidential race
Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election, has praised Walz for his commitment to working families.
The Trump campaign has called Walz a “dangerously liberal extremist.”
Analysts say Walz’s progressive policies, such as providing free school lunches in Minnesota, contrast sharply with Republican initiatives like book bans in schools.
Walz, who served five terms in the House before becoming governor, is known for both his support of Israel as well as his advocacy for Palestinian aid amid Israel’s war on Gaza.
He has also called for a cease-fire.
As well, Walz has gained support from many Muslims and students who were opposed to Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro as Harris’ vice-presidential pick.
This is due to Shapiro serving as a volunteer for the Israeli army in the past.
