Senate majority leader unveils bill to reverse Trump’s immunity rulings
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has introduced a bill to reverse the Supreme Court’s immunity rulings on former President Donald Trump.
This bill would reaffirm the president is not immune to legal accountability and remove the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction to hear appeals related to presidential immunity.
Last month, the Court granted Trump substantial immunity on election subversion charges in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
The legislation, backed by 34 Democratic co-sponsors, could fail in the Senate, as Republicans are unlikely to help the measure pass the 60-vote threshold.
