Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 director steps down after Trump criticism
Paul Dans, director of Project 2025 led by the conservative Heritage Foundation, is stepping down, according to the think tank’s president, Kevin Roberts.
Dans, who has led the project since its inception in April 2022, is leaving as the initiative faces increasing scrutiny from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign.
Project 2025, which proposes a hard-right policy blueprint and a list of potential staffers for a future conservative administration, has been a target of Democratic attacks.
Trump’s senior adviser dismissed the project as irrelevant to the campaign.
Despite Dans’ departure, Roberts assured that Project 2025 will continue its mission to build a conservative policy framework.
Observers say Dans’ exit highlights the tension between conservative policy goals and Trump’s campaign strategy.
