Delta Air Lines alters uniform policy after Palestinian flag pin issue
Delta Air Lines has revised its employee uniform policy following a backlash over flight attendants wearing Palestinian flag pins.
The controversy erupted when a passenger’s social media post criticizing the pins as “Palestine resistance organization badges,” went viral.
Delta initially responded in sympathy with a passenger who posted against the pins on X, later deleting it and apologizing for its insensitive remarks.
Effective Monday, Delta’s new policy prohibits employees from wearing pins representing any country besides the US.
The airline’s Association of Flight Attendants condemned Delta’s handling of the incident, citing harassment faced by the flight attendants.
Critics, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations, denounced Delta’s response as discriminatory.
Delta defended the policy change as necessary to maintain a welcoming environment.
