Gaza residents queue for hours in scorching heat to get drinking water: UN agency
ISTANBUL (AA) – Every morning, Palestinians queue for hours under the burning sun to fill their bottles and jerrycans with drinking water amid an Israeli war on the enclave, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has said.
“Many of them have to walk long distances carrying heavy weights in the summer heat,” the UN agency said in a statement.
“This exhausting routine repeats again and again in Gaza,” it added.
Israel has killed nearly 38,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured nearly 88,900, according to local health authorities.
After nine months of continuous Israeli attacks, vast tracts of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.
