Progressives slam GOP for blaming Biden after Trump rally shooting
Progressive voices are sharply criticizing Republican figures for blaming President Joe Biden following the shooting at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania.
Journalists reported hostility toward the media from Trump supporters at the event.
Trump’s Republican allies, including J.D. Vance of Ohio, Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia, and former White House adviser Stephen Miller immediately blamed Biden.
They claimed the attack was the result of warnings that electing the former president to a second term would threaten democracy.
Rep. Mark Pocan condemned claims implicating Biden in the attack as dangerous rhetoric fueling political violence.
Meanwhile, gun control activist David Hogg highlighted the broader issue of gun violence in America.
Critics argue that such blame tactics worsen national divisions, echoing fears of heightened turmoil ahead of November’s presidential elections.
