Major labor union expresses support for Free Palestine camp at University of Toronto
In Canada, the Ontario Federation of Labour, representing 1 million workers, has thrown its weight behind students at the University of Toronto peacefully demanding the liberation of Palestine.
Students are also demanding divestment from Israel-backed firms and transparency from the university administration.
Federation President Laura Walton told university President Meric Gertler that any attempt to remove protesters would face resistance from the union.
The union also aims to intervene in court proceedings in support of students’ peaceful sit-in.
