Israel used US-made munitions to kill in Rafah ‘safe zones’
CNN says its analysis by weapons experts shows munitions made in the United States were used in the deadly Israeli strike on a refugee camp in Rafah on Sunday.
Serial numbers matched those for a manufacturer of GBU-39 parts based in California.
About 1.3 million Palestinians took shelter in Rafah to avoid Israeli bombings of Gaza, considering it a safe zone.
Now, Israel is bombing the same safe zones, causing about a million displaced Palestinians to flee again.
Attacks on Rafah have drawn international condemnation, with United Nations agencies, aid groups and multiple governments calling on Israel to immediately halt its offensive.
Israel has killed 36,096 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza, since October last year.
