Images coming out of Rafah ‘horrific’: Canada foreign minister
Ottawa, Canada – AFP
Canada is “horrified” by the deaths of civilians from an Israeli air strike on a camp housing displaced Palestinians in Rafah, Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said in a social media post, calling for a cease-fire.
“The images coming out of Rafah are horrific and heartbreaking,” Joly said in a separate statement in the House of Commons, adding: “The killing of innocent civilians is completely unacceptable. The level of human suffering is catastrophic. That is why we need an immediate cease-fire.”
Israel killed at least 40 people in an attack on a refugee camp in Rafah, which it had previously designated a “safe zone”. They were among more than 200 people killed by Israel in Gaza Strip within a span of 24 hours.
