Whistle-blower exposes organ harvesting among Uyghurs
An Uyghur surgeon has revealed he was forced to remove organs from an Uyghur prisoner who was barely alive on an execution ground almost 30 years ago.
Enver Tohti was coerced into removing organs from a prisoner on an execution ground near Urumqi in 1995.
Activists fear that now Uyghurs in internment camps could be targeted in the same way.
Forced to flee to London, Tohti advocates against these atrocities. He testified before a US government panel in 2022 about his experiences as a doctor in northwest China.
Despite China’s denial, observers say Tohti’s testimony and independent verification sheds light on the ongoing human rights horrors.
His revelations include forced organ harvesting and heightened cancer rates due to nuclear testing.
Despite China’s 2015 ban on organ harvesting, skepticism persists.
In recent years, the Chinese government has repeatedly vowed to crack down on organ trafficking.
But these efforts have been seen by some as a tacit admission that the medical transplant system still operates on harvested organs.
