Indian national killed in Hezbollah missile attack in northern Israel, says Israeli mission
NEW DELHI (AA) – An Indian national was killed by an anti-tank missile launched from southern Lebanon into northern Israel, the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi has said.
Southern Lebanon has been targeted by Israel several times over the past few weeks, leading to dozens of casualties.
In a statement issued Tuesday morning, the Israeli mission expressed “deep” shock over the death of an Indian national, blaming the attack on Monday afternoon on the Lebanon-based Palestinian resistance group Hezbollah.
According to the Israeli official statement, it was claimed that the missile “struck peaceful agriculture workers who were cultivating an orchard at the northern village of Margaliot yesterday early afternoon.”
“Israeli Medical institutions are completely at the service of the injured who are being treated by our very best medical staff,” it said.
Earlier on Monday, Israel’s national ambulance service announced that one person was killed and seven others were injured in an anti-tank missile attack in northern Israel.
Israeli Army Radio said the anti-tank missile struck an orchard in Galilee in northern Israel.
Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel with intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah since Israel launched its current war on Gaza, which has killed over 30,534 people.
Amid the ongoing genocidal assault on Palestine, Tel Aviv has turned to India for providing human labor. Several employment drives were recently held in two Indian states to recruit workers for Israel.
Israel and India have remained close allies, as both states maintain militarized occupation of Muslim territories, Palestine and Kashmir, respectively.
