Israeli army says 19 soldiers injured in 24 hours
JERUSALEM (AA) – At least 19 Israeli soldiers were wounded in 24 hours, including 13 in ground battles in the Gaza Strip, the army said on Friday.
Figures released by the army showed that 194 soldiers have been killed and 1,191 others have been injured since Israel expanded its ground offensive in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 27.
According to the army data, 410 soldiers and officers are still receiving treatment in hospitals, including 46 in serious condition.
Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since an attack by Hamas which Tel Aviv says killed 1,140 people.
The Israeli attacks have killed at least 24,762 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 62,108, according to Palestinian health authorities.
The Israeli offensive has left 85% of Gaza’s population internally displaced amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
