US raises travel warning for Israel, West Bank
ANKARA (AA) – The US has raised the travel warning for Israel and the West Bank to Level 3, urging its citizens to reconsider traveling to those places.
“Updated given the current security situation including increased travel restrictions for U.S. government employees,” a State Department statement said.
“Violence can occur in Israel and the West Bank and Gaza without warning. There has been a marked increase in demonstrations throughout Israel, some with little or no warning,” the statement said.
“The Travel Advisory for Gaza remains Level 4 – Do Not Travel,” it added.
Israeli forces have launched a sustained military campaign against the Gaza Strip, a response to Operation Al-Aqsa Flood which Hamas said was in retaliation for the relentless stormings of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and Israeli settlers’ growing violence against Palestinians.
The Israeli military has launched a disproportionate response- Operation Swords of Iron against Gaza. The disproportionate
response has extended into cutting water and electricity supplies to Gaza, further worsening the living conditions in an area that has reeled under a crippling siege since 2007.
