London mayor says no room for hate after kosher restaurant’s glass door smashed
LONDON (AA) – Mayor Sadiq Khan expressed full support for Jewish Londoners after a glass door of a kosher restaurant was smashed in north London on Monday.
“There is no tolerance for hate in our city,” Khan said on social media platform X. “I remain in close contact with the Met Police. Whoever did this will face the full force of the law. I stand with Jewish Londoners, today and always.”
Khan later visited the Princes Road Synagogue for an “interfaith breakfast” attended by members of the Jewish Labour Movement.
British politicians from many spectrums have been vocal on their strong support to Israel and Jews, drawing criticisms from the public who took to the streets over the weekend, demanding the UK not support Israel’s occupation.
The Gaza-based resistance group Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel early Saturday, firing a barrage of rockets. It said the surprise attack was in response to the incessant stormings of the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and increased settler violence in recent days.
In retaliation, the Israeli army launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
