5 Israeli guards injured during raid on Palestinian refugee camp in West Bank
JERUSALEM (AA) – Five Israeli border police officers were injured, three of them seriously, during a raid in the Tulkarm Palestinian refugee camp in the northern West Bank on Thursday.
Five personnel were injured during an “operational activity” when the forces were attacked in the Tulkarm refugee camp, the Israeli police said in a post on social media platform X.
They claimed that there was an exchange of fire and that explosive devices were thrown at the security forces, who responded by shooting.
“Three officers were seriously injured, and two were in moderate to minor condition,” the statement said, adding that the suspected attacker was arrested.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied West Bank in recent months amid repeated Israeli raids into Palestinian towns.
More than 230 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the start of this year, according to the Health Ministry. At least 35 Israelis have also been killed in Palestinian attacks during the same period, the highest Israeli toll since 2005.
