Trump to turn himself in at Fulton County jail Thursday
Trump has agreed to $200,000 bail and other conditions of release, which include not using social media to attack witnesses
WASHINGTON – Former U.S. President Donald Trump plans to turn himself in Thursday at the Fulton County jail in the city of Atlanta.
He has agreed to $200,000 bail and other conditions of release, which include not using social media to attack his co-defendants or witnesses in the case.
Several other defendants in the case have also reached bail agreements with prosecutors.
All defendants are expected to turn themselves in this week before Friday’s deadline.
Authorities said security has been beefed up at the Fulton County Courthouse Complex.
Barricades around the Fulton County Courthouse will remain in place through Saturday.
This is the fourth criminal case against Trump this year. In previous cases, the conditions of his release after arrest and until trial have been largely routine.
When police make an arrest, the arrestee is typically taken to jail and must be brought before a judge within 72 hours.
However, in this case, because the defendants have already been charged, they will negotiate the terms of their release and bail before facing jail.
Trump’s attorneys Jennifer Little, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg met with prosecutors Monday before details of the bail agreement were announced.
