JERUSALEM, Palestine – More than 100 Palestinians were injured Sunday in Israeli military attacks in towns south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli government said it was searching for an attacker responsible for the murder of two Israeli settlers near the town of Huwwara.
Israeli forces entered Beita and other towns, leading to confrontations with Palestinians in which more than 100 people were injured by rubber bullets, tear gas, and sound bombs.
Photojournalist Wahaj Bani Mufleh was wounded while documenting the raid.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported 112 Palestinians injured in the Beita raid.
At the same time, Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian homes and vehicles.
A masked Israeli settler was mistakenly shot and wounded while throwing stones.
Israeli soldiers also closed the roads between the towns and dropped gas bombs, affecting freedom of movement and the start of the school year.
In Aqraba, Israeli forces arrested a 60-year-old Palestinian man and his 35-year-old son during one of the house raids.
Salah Khalil, head of the Aqraba local council, said the soldiers also blew up the doors of several stores and confiscated footage from surveillance equipment before withdrawing from the city.
