Police arrest Texas woman for threatening to kill judge in Trump case
AUSTIN, Texas – A Texas woman has been arrested for threatening to kill the federal judge presiding over former President Donald Trump’s 2020 election interference case in Washington, DC.
Abigail Jo Shry allegedly threatened to kill U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan and longtime Democratic Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. She called the judge’s office on Aug. 5.
Two days later, she was arrested in Alvin, Texas.
Shry admitted making the call to the judge’s office.
Shry’s father testified at her detention hearing that she was not violent and suffered from a drug addiction.
However, her arrest warrant alleges that she had already been charged with threatening bodily harm and was out on bail when she threatened Judge Chutkan.
Shry is charged with violating laws that criminalize the transmission of a threat to kidnap or injure a person across state lines.
The maximum penalty is five years imprisonment.
