DeSantis vows to cut US funding for UN entities that target Israel
Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who is seeking the 2024 presidential nomination, has vowed to cut funding to U.N. agencies that target Israel.
Speaking at an event organized by Christians United for Israel Summit in Virginia, he said the U.S. will not provide funding to the U.N. if it targets Israel.
DeSantis named the U.N. Human Rights Council and UNESCO for consistently targeting Israel. He said by targeting Israel, they promote anti-Semitism.
Republican governor said the West Bank is not occupied territory, but disputed territory. He said it is some of the most historic territory, dating back to biblical times.
The Florida governor said Israel has the largest claim to that land.
DeSantis is considered one of the leading challengers to former President Donald Trump to claim the poll ticket on behalf of Republicans.
