U.S. State Department detects anomalous cyber activity
WASHINGTON – The U.S. State Department has confirmed that anomalous activity was detected on its network last month.
Spokesman Matthew Miller said immediate action was taken to secure the system. Microsoft was also notified immediately.
Earlier, Microsoft said in a statement that hackers from China had targeted 25 organizations, including U.S. government accounts.
Miller said the incident was under investigation and that the government was continuously monitoring its networks and updating its security procedures.
He, however, said that the U.S. government has not made a public attribution about the identity of the cyber attackers.
