Climate change unleashes wave of scorching temperatures
ISTANBUL (AA) – From North America to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, nations are grappling with extreme heat, as this summer proves to be one of the hottest on record.
A nationwide alert has been issued in the U.S. as sweltering heat and oppressive humidity blanket various regions.
Mexico has also been severely impacted, with temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius.
Tragically, over 110 lives have been claimed by the unforgiving heat.
Across the Atlantic, the U.K endured its hottest June since record-keeping began in 1884. The average temperature soared to 15.8 degrees Celsius nearly a degree higher than previous highs for the month.
In Iran, known for its blistering summers, some areas experienced an astonishing 50 degrees Celsius of scorching heat.
Spain faced alarming conditions throughout June, as the mercury soared to a sweltering 44 degrees Celsius.
Eight out of its 17 autonomous administrations issued heat alerts to protect the public.
In South Asia, Pakistan and India also suffered devastating consequences from the heatwave.
Tragically, heatstroke-related incidents claimed the lives of at least 22 people in Pakistan, while over 150 individuals died in India.
China has been witnessing some of its hottest days in six decades.
Temperatures have skyrocketed to 40 degrees Celsius in various regions.
As climate change continues to fuel these extreme heatwaves, governments and communities worldwide are urged to prioritize measures that mitigate the impacts and protect vulnerable populations.
