Pakistani Islamic party protests in front of the Swedish embassy
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – An Islamic political party in Pakistan protests outside the Swedish Embassy against the burning of the holy Quran.
Members of the Jamaat-e-Islami political party demanded the expulsion of the Swedish ambassador.
Muslim activists have been protesting across Pakistan in recent days against Sweden for allowing an Iraqi to burn a copy of the Quran.
The president of Jamaat e Islami in Islamabad, Nasarullah Randhawa, called on the government to express its strong protest in all forums.
Randhawa also called for severing diplomatic relations with Sweden if the country did not take appropriate measures.
Muslim groups called on the Swedish government to ensure that those responsible for the recent incident are severely punished.
