Arab countries among lead buyers of Israeli weapons
TEL AVIV, Israel – Arab countries are among the major buyers of Israeli weapons.
It was revealed that these countries bought $3 billion worth of weapons from Israeli arms manufacturers in 2022.
The data presented by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that exports to Arab states have increased significantly.
It was disclosed that Arab states make up 24% of Israel’s 2022 arms exports.
Compared to the previous record year of 2021, when Bahrain and the UAE contributed $853 million to Israel’s $11.4 billion in arms exports, the figures are up significantly.
Since 2014, Israel’s arms exports have more than doubled, with a notable 50% increase in the last three years alone.
Drones accounted for a significant portion of exports, about 25%, in 2022. In addition, missiles, rockets, and air defense systems accounted for 19% of the total.
According to news reports, Israel agreed to sell Spyder man-portable air defense systems to the UAE.
This agreement was part of a larger free trade agreement signed by the two countries in May.
Recently, Israel’s acting ambassador to Morocco, Shai Cohen, announced that Elbit Systems, a well-known Israeli defense technology company, will establish two production facilities in Morocco.
This important development followed reports that Israel is considering recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over the disputed territory of Western Sahara.
