5 Palestinians injured in Israeli raids in West Bank
RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA): Five Palestinians were injured on Tuesday in Israeli military raids in the occupied West Bank, according to the Health Ministry.
Israeli forces raided the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank, triggering clashes with local residents, the Palestine Television station reported.
Israeli forces besieged a house in the camp and detained four people before withdrawing from the area, the broadcaster said.
A Health Ministry statement said four people were injured, including one seriously, and were admitted to hospital for medical attention.
Israeli forces also raided the Aqbat Jabr refugee camp in Jericho city and detained six residents, the Palestine Voice radio station reported. One Palestinian was reportedly injured in clashes with Israeli forces.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society said 20 Palestinians were rounded up by Israeli forces across the West Bank on Tuesday.
There was no comment from the Israeli army on the report.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied West Bank in recent months because of repeated Israeli raids into Palestinian towns.
According to Palestinian figures, more than 160 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of this year. At least 20 Israelis have also been killed in separate attacks during the same period.
