China will cooperate with Gulf states over energy: President Xi
ISTANBUL (AA) – Chinese President Xi Jinping has said China will work with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) “to foster a new pattern of multi-faceted energy cooperation.”
Xi, who is in Saudi Arabia on a state visit, made the statement for local media publications.
“The visit will carry forward our traditional friendship, and usher in a new era in China’s relations with the Arab world, with Arab states of the Gulf, and with Saudi Arabia” Xi, wrote.
“Collectively, China has established a future-oriented strategic partnership of comprehensive cooperation and common development with all Arab states,” he also said.
Xi stressed China’s support for Arab states preserving their “sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”
During his three-day stay in the oil-rich kingdom which started on Wednesday, the Chinese president attended the first China-Arab summit and China-Gulf summit in the capital Riyadh. He also held summit talks with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
