Iran hypersonic missile announcement raises concerns: IAEA chief
Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt (AFP):
Iran’s announcement that it has developed a hypersonic missile increases international concerns about the country’s nuclear programme, the head of the UN’s atomic agency has said.
“We see that all these announcements increase the attention, increase the concerns, increase the public attention to the Iranian nuclear programme,” Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said on the sidelines of the COP27 climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
Iran is already facing backlash over having shipped missiles to Russia prior to the Ukraine war.
