Türkiye ‘neutralizes’ 11 PKK fighters in northern Syria
ANKARA (AA) – Turkish security forces claim to have “neutralized” a total of 11 PKK fighters in northern Syria, according to the Turkish Defense Ministry.
The Kurdish militants were targeted in the regions of Turkiye’s Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring operations, the ministry said.
“There is no escape from the fate that awaits the terrorists!” the statement warned.
Since 2016, Ankara has launched a trio of military operations across its border in northern Syria against Kurdish nationalist groups: Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018) and Peace Spring (2019).
Turkiye uses the the word “neutralize” to imply either killing, capture or surrender by the targeted militants.
