10 killed in terrorist attack in Burkina Faso
DAKAR, Senegal (AA) – At least 10 people were killed in a terrorist attack in north-central Burkina Faso, the Burkina Information Agency (AIB) reported Thursday.
The attack was carried out Wednesday by unidentified armed individuals in Namentenga province, the report said.
The victims included six members of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), a pro-government civilian militia.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
The security situation in Burkina Faso has deteriorated significantly in recent weeks.
Over the weekend, unidentified individuals opened fire on a community in Seytenga district in the Sahel region, killing 86 civilians, while a week earlier, 11 gendarmes were killed in an attack in the same area.
