Turkiye kills 19 PKK fighters in northern Syria
ANKARA (AA) – Turkish forces killed 19 PKK fighters in northern Syria, the National Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
The PKK men attempted to attack the Operation Peace Spring, Olive Branch and Euphrates Shield zones, the ministry said on Twitter.
Since 2016, Turkiye has launched a trio of operations across its border in northern Syria: Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018) and Peace Spring (2019).
Turkiye alleges that the PKK is responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.
