Muslim Parents Protest After School Gives Children Pork
Muslim parents are up in arms after an elementary school in the U.K. served their children pork instead of vegetarian sausages for lunch.
A group of angry parents protested demanding the Ryders Green Primary School in West Bromwich explain the “mix up.”
Muslims make up around 70% of students at the school, and many follow Islamic dietary guidelines that prohibit eating pork.
On Thursday, although the parents had pre-ordered veggie sausages, the children were given pork instead.
A school spokesman said the error was on the part of the catering company that provides the meals.
The school has filed a formal complaint against the catering provider with the Food Standards Agency.
