20-year-old Palestinian succumbs to wounds after being shot by Israeli forces in Jericho
JERICHO, PALESTINE (AA) – A young Palestinian man succumbed to his wounds on Tuesday after he was shot by Israeli forces in the eastern occupied West Bank district of Jericho.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Ahmad Ibrahim Oueidat, 20, was shot with a live bullet in the head during an Israeli military raid into the refugee camp of Aqabat Jabr.
The funeral procession for Oueidat proceeded from in front of the Jericho Governmental Hospital to reach his family’s home in Ain Al-Sultan camp for Palestinian refugees, west of Jericho.
Mourners carrying Palestinian flags chanted angry slogans condemning the Israeli crimes.
Tensions have been running high across the Palestinian territories since the beginning of April amid repeated Israeli arrest campaigns in the occupied West Bank and daily settler incursions into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in East Jerusalem.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is the world’s third-holiest site for Muslims. Jews call the area the “Temple Mount,” saying it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.
