UK Sports Clubs Embracing Muslim Athletes During Ramadan
Professional athletes who are practicing Muslims fasting during daylight hours will need extra psychological and physical stamina to get through the month of Ramadan.
Muslims are one of the largest faith-based groups in the U.K.
Yet, the community has traditionally struggled for representation in British sports from national teams to lower leagues.
But today some of the best players in the football Premier League are Muslim.
Mo Salah, Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, and Riyad Mahrez to name a few.
British Muslim cricketers Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid are also at top of their field.
And the Rugby Football League recently became the first national sports governing body to sign the Muslim Athlete Charter to better support athletes who practice Islam.
