US Warns Against Chemicals Weapons Use in Ukraine, As in Syria
On Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden warned that Russia may use chemical weapons in Ukraine, repeating earlier allegations from the White House.
The caution comes ahead of a series of summits in Europe on Russia’s war in Ukraine.
The last time chemical weapons were used during a conflict was in Syria, when rebels sought to oust President Bashar al-Assad.
Syria only publicly admitted in 2012 that it possessed chemical weapons.
At the time, Russia worked with the United States to get Damascus to accept international monitoring and the destruction of its toxic arms stocks.
