9 Palestinians killed in Israeli raid
RAMALLAH, Palestine – At least 9 Palestinians were killed and 50 injured Monday in the West Bank city of Jenin.
Israeli forces launched a large-scale ground and airstrike operation.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, the ninth Palestinian was killed by Israeli forces near Ramallah.
The Palestinian Red Crescent has urged the safe evacuation of the wounded.
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said Israel does not intend to expand its Jenin operation to the rest of the occupied West Bank.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the Israeli operation, calling it a “heinous crime.”
“This heinous crime constitutes an extension of crimes and organised state terrorism practiced by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people,” the OIC said in a statement.
The Jenin refugee camp has been the target of repeated intense attacks by Israeli forces over the past two years.
The Israeli attacks on Jenin are part of an effort to break the resistance there, as young Palestinians are increasingly inclined to resist Israeli occupation.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it launched an operation in Jenin city and Jenin refugee camp.
A statement published on Telegram on Monday claimed they had hit terrorist infrastructures.
