8 Tajiks arrested in US amid possible ISIS links
In a coordinated effort, US authorities apprehended eight men allegedly linked to ISIS in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles over the weekend.
Sources indicate these men hail from the Central Asian country of Tajikistan.
Despite clean records during border checks, they were under FBI scrutiny, leading to their arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE.
The men entered via the southern border, with some using the CBP One app to schedule asylum appointments.
While not charged with terrorism yet, their detention on immigration grounds aligns with ongoing investigations into their alleged ISIS connections.
Authorities stress close collaboration between ICE and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces in the operation.
Media reports suggest the intelligence that led to the surveillance and arrests of these eight men also earlier led to the arrest of an Uzbek man in Baltimore in April.
He also is suspected to have an ISIS connection.
