77 House Democrats demand review of Israeli compliance with US laws
Seventy-seven Democrats in the House have urged the Biden administration to assess Israel’s compliance with US laws, including National Security Memorandum 20 and the Foreign Assistance Act.
In a letter to Secretaries Antony Blinken and Lloyd Austin, lawmakers called for clarity on how US weapons are being used in ongoing Israeli assaults in Gaza.
Led by Reps. Jason Crow, Madeleine Dean, and Chrissy Houlahan, the letter backs Israel’s right to self-defense but raises concerns over reports of US arms contributing to significant casualties in Gaza.
The letter also highlights efforts for a cease-fire and hostage negotiations, referencing a recent agreement involving Israel and Hezbollah.
