73 Palestinians killed, 123 others injured in Israeli attacks on central Gaza
GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – Some 73 Palestinians were killed and 123 others injured in Israeli attacks on central Gaza Strip over the past day, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
“73 martyrs and 123 others injured are the total casualties that arrived in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital (near Deir al-Balah city) over the past 24 hours,” the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, the Palestinian official news agency Wafa reported that 19 Palestinians were killed on Wednesday dawn in Israeli airstrikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip.
According to the report, the Israeli army also fired white phosphorus and smoke bombs on the camp which has experienced a series of Israeli airstrikes.
The use of the deadly chemical white phosphorus is outlawed according to international humanitarian law.
Israel resumed its military offensive on the Palestinian territory on December 1 after a weeklong suspension. It has killed at least 16,248 Palestinians and injured more than 43,616 others in relentless air and ground attacks on the enclave since October 7 when Hamas attacked its military check-posts to end the 75-year long occupation of the Palestinian lands.
The Israeli death toll in the Hamas attack stood at 1,200, according to official figures.
