7 killed in explosion in northern Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD (AA) – At least seven people have been killed and six others wounded in an explosion in Mazar-i Sharif city in northern Afghanistan.
According to local officials, the roadside explosion took place near the Seyed Abad intersection in the third district of Mazar-i-Sharif and targeted a bus carrying oil company workers from the Haritaan port on Tuesday.
The wounded — some in critical condition — were shifted to a local hospital, according to Asif Waziri, the spokesman for the Balkh Province Police Command.
He feared the number of casualties might increase.
On November 30, at least 15 people were killed and 27 others injured in a bomb explosion inside a religious seminary in the Samangan province of northern Afghanistan.
On December 2, Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires to Afghanistan Ubaid Ur Rehman Nizamani survived an attack on the country’s embassy in Kabul.
On the same day, former Afghan Prime Minister Gulbuddin Hekmatyar also escaped a suicide bombing in the capital Kabul during Friday prayers.
