3 hurt in coordinated insurgent attacks in Thailand’s volatile southern provinces
ISTANBUL (AA) – At least three people were injured in coordinated attacks in troubled southern provinces of Thailand in the late hours on Wednesday.
The attacks took place in Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani provinces.
Videos and photographs showed petrol pumps on fire, as well as damage to other businesses such as departmental stores and trucks.
“Insurgents launched (a) coordinated bomb and arson attacks on convenience stores and petrol stations at 11 places in three southern border provinces, causing considerable damage,” daily Bangkok Post reported.
The attackers, wearing face masks and women’s attire, used bombs and patrol to inflict damages, it added.
The attackers allowed civilians to vacate the target areas before triggering the blasts. The attacks were coordinated, and are being investigated by the police.
