21% Americans support Hamas in its fight against Israel
A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll has revealed shifts in American voter opinions with regard to Israel’s genocide against Palestinians.
Conducted with more than 2,000 registered voters from Jan. 15-16, the poll shows that 21% of Americans support Hamas against Israel.
Among Democrats, 75% back Israel, while 25% support Hamas.
For Republicans, 81% favor Israel, with 19% siding with Hamas.
Respondents between the ages of 25 and 34 recorded the highest support for Hamas, with nearly one-third backing the group.
On the recent ceasefire deal, 82% of respondents supported the truce.
Fifty-seven percent credited President Donald Trump’s team for the agreement, while 43% attributed it to former President Joe Biden.
Another poll by the Institute of Middle East Understanding and YouGov revealed why Vice President Kamala Harris received 6 million fewer votes than Biden in 2020.
Among Biden voters who did not support Harris in 2024, 29% cited the administration’s backing of Israel’s actions in Gaza as their reason.
This concern outweighed traditional issues like the economy, health care, and immigration.
