2024 a deadly year for Pakistani security forces
ISLAMABAD (AA) – With at least 685 fatalities, 2024 was a deadly year for Pakistani security forces, the Center for Research and Security Studies said in a report.
Security forces killed 934 suspected militants.
The violence took the heaviest toll on the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, followed by southwestern Balochistan province, accounting for 94% of all fatalities.
Terror attacks surged in the country by 38% in 2021, 15% in 2022, 56% in 2023 and 66% in 2024.
November was the deadliest month across all metrics, with 125 attacks, 450 fatalities and 625 personnel getting wounded.
The militant outfit Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), emboldened since the Taliban took over in Afghanistan following the end of the US occupation, has intensified attacks in Pakistan’s restive northern tribal areas that border Afghanistan.
