2 Syrian regime soldiers wounded in Israeli airstrike
ISTANBUL (AA) – Two Syrian regime soldiers were wounded in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the vicinity of the capital Damascus on Tuesday, reported Syrian regime news agency SANA.
The agency quoted an unnamed military source as saying: “At about 00:30 local time around dawn, Tuesday, Israeli forces carried out air aggression with bursts of missiles from a direction northeast of Lake Kinneret, targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus.”
The source added: “Our air defenses intercepted the aggression’s missiles and shot down a number of them.
“The bombing resulted in the injury of two soldiers and some material losses.”
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli side.
Israel has carried out several airstrikes against the positions of Iranian-backed groups and the Syrian regime since the country’s civil war began in 2011.
Israeli officials generally refrain from commenting on attacks on Syrian territory.
