2 soldiers among 9 dead in terror attacks in Burkina Faso
DAKAR, Senegal (AA) – At least nine people, including two soldiers, were killed Wednesday in separate terror attacks in Burkina Faso, according to media reports.
Unidentified gunmen raided Tassiri village in the north of the country, killing seven civilians, said reports.
In another terror attack that killed two soldiers, a roadside mine targeted a military convoy between the northern cities of Dori and Kaya.
Earlier this week, at least 37 civilians were killed and 37 injured when a convoy of vehicles hit an improvised explosive device (IED) in Burkina Faso’s Sahel region.
Burkina Faso has been battling an insurgency that spread from neighboring Mali in the past decade.
International aid groups operating in the West African country warned Monday that almost 2 million people have been displaced in Burkina Faso, with nearly one in 10 forced from their homes by conflict.
They said numerous violent attacks drove more people to flee from January to July than in all of last year.
