2 Palestinians arrested in Gaza for alleged attempt to cross into Israel
JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli forces have detained two Palestinians for allegedly ‘attempting to cross from the Gaza Strip into Israel’, according to the Israeli military.
A statement by the military said the two were taken into custody while attempting to cross a security fence in the southern Gaza Strip into Israel.
According to the statement, “two knives and a hand grenade were seized from the two men.”
No evidence has been provided to confirm the allegations.
There was no comment from the Palestinian authorities on the allegation.
Israel has detained dozens of Palestinians along Gaza’s border areas in the past months, escalating the situation in the occupied region.
Israel restricts the movement of Palestinians along Gaza’s border area and its forces sometimes shoot or arrest any Palestinian approaching the security fence between Israel and Gaza. Human rights groups consider Gaza to be the world’s largest ‘open air prison’ due to severe restrictions imposed on the movement of residents.
