19 Malaysians make Forbes 2025 billionaires list
PETALING JAYA, Malaysia (MNTV) — A total of 19 Malaysians are listed on the Forbes 2025 Billionaires List with a cumulative wealth of $57.3 billion, reports The Star.
Robert Kuok, 101, remains the wealthiest Malaysian for another year, with his net worth increasing to $12.1 billion.
The next wealthiest Malaysian is Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan of Hong Leong Group, who is ranked No. 274 on the list with a net worth of $9.9 billion, while Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd group chief executive officer Tan Sri Paul Koon comes in at No. 868 with $4.2 billion.
Datuk Lee Yeow Chor of IOI Group and his brother, Lee Yeow Seng, are on the list with a net worth of $3.1 billion and $2.3 billion, respectively.
Lee Thiam Wah, founder and CEO of 99 Speed Mart Retail Holdings Bhd, has joined the billionaire club, ranking as Malaysia’s fourth richest with a net worth of $3.7 billion. His company, 99 Speed Mart, went public on Bursa Malaysia in 2024.
Lee opened his first shop in 1987 in the port city of Klang, before selling it and establishing the Pasar Mini 99 chain in 1992. In 2000, he consolidated his growing network of stores under the 99 Speedmart brand, which has since expanded to nearly 2,700 outlets.
Children of Public Bank Bhd founder Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow – Diona Teh Li Shian, Lillian Teh Li Ming, Lillyn Teh Li Hua and William Teh Lee Pang – are among Malaysia’s richest, each with a net worth of $1.6 billion.
